San Diego 28th on List of Pedestrian Traffic Fatalities

     A report issued by the group Transportation For America that lists the top 50 metro areas in terms of pedestrian safety has identified San Diego as number 28 on the list of least safe for pedestrians

A list of the most dangerous metro areas can be seen here.  San Diego had 623 traffic deaths from 2000-2008, a rate of 2.1 average annual pedestrian deaths per 100,000 people.  The Orlando metro area was identified as the most dangerous metro area, with an average annual pedestrian death rate of 3.  The Riverside/San Bernardino metro area was ranked as the fifth most dangerous metro area for pedestrians in the nation.
