Brain Injuries High in Construction Industry
According to an article in the Journal of Preventive Medicine, the construction industry had the highest number of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) in the United States, and the forestry and fishing industries had the highest rates of TBI's. The study states that although TBI's are a leading cause of death in the U.S., there has been no systematic study correlating TBI's and the workplace. The report concluded that construction, transportation, and agriculture/forestry/fishing are among the most dangerous industries in our nation.
