11 Children Injured in School Bus Crash

Eleven children riding on a school bus were injured in an accident that occurred on Tuesday morning when the bus crashed into a light pole on the Golden Acorn Casino, near Campo.

Why was a school bus at the Golden Acre Casino?  According to the San Diego Union Tribune, the bus was transporting fifth graders from an elementary school in Yuma, Arizona to Balboa Park for a field trip.  The bus stopped at the Casino to allow the kids to stretch their legs and get some fresh air.  The crash occurred at 8:12 a.m.

The injured children were transported to either Grossmont or Alvarado hospitals with injuries ranging from "minor" to "moderate."  No additional information was available regarding the injuries. It was first reported that the bus had collided with a private vehicle.  Authorities later reported that the bus had crashed into a light pole.
