Carlsbad cyclist injured in late night accident
A bicyclist from Carlsbad was injured Monday night when he was struck by a motorist about 11:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Union Tribune. The cyclist was travelling east in the bike lane on Cannon Road, near Hemmingway Drive, when he was struck by a pickup truck. The cyclist was reported to be a 22 year old male. He was transported to Scripps Mormoria Hospital in Encinitas with a broken leg and head injuries. No details were reported regarding the cause of the accident, but alcohol and drugs were not believed to be a factor in the accident. The accident is under investigation and it is possible that criminal charges will be filed.
