Brain Injuries High in Construction Industry
 According to an article in the Journal of Preventive Medicine , the construction industry had the highest number of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) in the United States, and the forestry and fishing industries had the highest rates of TBI's. Pedestrian Killed By Suspected Drunken Driver
     The statistics I just posted about pedestrian deaths rang a little bit truer as I ran across an article in today's paper about a pedestrian death in Kearney Mesa due to a drunken driver.  A 71 year old man was struck and killed on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. when an intoxicated driver smashed into him.  The driver was found in a smashed and parked vehicle about 200 yards away from where the dead mans body lay.  The driver was found sitting outside his car, cl ...

Elderly Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by a Car
     Susan Ely lived alone in a small apartment.  Last Friday she was walking south on Tierrasanta Boulevard near Tambor Road when she was struck and killed by a 2001 Chrysler sedan.  San Diego Police report that Ely was 66, and that the accident occurred about 8:45 a.m.  Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident .  The driver of the vehicle stopped after Ely was struck, and was cooperating with Police.

Hit and Run Driver Injuries Pacific Beach Man

Pedestrian Struck and Killed by a Car in Balboa Park
     A pedestrian wearing ear plugs was struck and killed by a vehicle in Balboa Park, Tuesday afternoon.  The accident occurred on Pershing Drive near Florida Drive.  The man who was killed appeared to walk into the driver's path.   Police reported that the victim was on the shoulder of Pershing near Florida Drive, when the man looked into traffic, and then continued to walk into traffic.  The man continued to walk into traffic after one car swerv ...

Hit and run Victim Hospitalized

     A 65 year old man was found lying on Alvarado Road around Midnight on Saturday, and is believed to be the victim of a hit and run driver .  The man was suffering from head injuries and a broken leg, according to the San Diego Union Tribune .

Driver sentenced to 16 years in death of pedestrian

Woman was killed while going to work

A woman with a history of drunken driving was sentenced Monday to 16 years in prison for driving under the influence of a depressant and killing a pedestrian in Poway last year.

Becky Marie Anderson, 45, pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated stemming from the Nov. 23 crash that killed Kristen Ann Bedard, 36.

Hit and Run Crash leaves Pedestrian with Broken Skull

A 22 year old female pedestrian was injured in the Torrey Pines area Sunday night after she was hit by a bike rider who did not stop. That's right: a hit and run bike accident! Jogger injured when car runs curb
A man jogging on Telegraph Canyon Road in Chula Vista was hit and injured when a vehicle veered off the roadway and struck him. The 35 year old man was hospitalized with head and facial injuries, and possible broken bones. The accident took place on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. The victim was apparently running on the sidewalk when the vehicle veered off Telegraph Canyon road and hit him. The police do not suspect that alcohol was involved, and are investigating the cause of the crash.
